Georgina Gilmore is an oil & acrylic painter based in the foothills of El Dorado County, California. She paints contemporary, semi-abstract landscapes — the kind that make you want to stop and look for a minute rather than walk past.

She grew up in England, where museums and galleries were just part of everyday life, and that's where painting first got under her skin. She trained in design in both England and California and spent years working as an interior designer which is still he primary business, but now has added art to her repertoire. Along the way she worked in watercolor, reverse glass, and mixed media — enough different materials to know what she actually wanted to say with oil.

Now she paints almost entirely in oil on linen, often finished with gold leaf, working from the California and European landscape. The Tahoe series, and coastal Pieces like "Mountains in Mist" and "Blush and Burnish" are a good read on where her work sits right now — layered, textured, a little moody.

Original paintings are available to buy directly and ship worldwide. Georgina also takes commissions, working one-on-one with collectors and designers to build a piece around a room, a palette, or a feeling that's hard to put into words otherwise.
